Trukcnet Smart Fuel Catalyst

Let’s Make ESG everyone’s business

Trucknet is also co-developing in the U.S. and markets a Smart Fuel Catalyst (patent No 7156081B2) that aims to reduce fuel consumption and emissions in heavy vehicle diesel engines.

Similar patents registered in Europe, Asia, and Israel.

The converter connects to Trucknet systems that calculate the number of polluting emissions. The concern for reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions is high on the agenda of governments and companies. Therefore, the integrated solution of Trucknet and Rentar can assist in promoting economic and environmental change.

A truck, which emits an average of 12-16 tons of pollutants per month, could save about 20% of harmful emissions, which would be in parallel to the additional savings achieved from using the smart matching system we developed. Following the worldwide price increase, a truck that reduces emissions could receive money for each ton of polluting emissions saved using the fuel catalyst that calculates emissions with the Trucknet online emissions calculation tool.

In addition to the positive environmental impact, the fuel catalyst has economic advantages for the end user, as its implementation can reduce fuel expenses by up to 7% and show over 25% GHG emissions reduction. A European truck consumes diesel fuel at an average of about 60,000 Euros per year.

Israeli Standards Institute trial result

In testing the catalytic component by the Israeli Standards Institute, the testing indicated positive results:

Fuel consumption: A drop of up to 7.4% in fuel consumption. A significant decrease is obtained at low RPM values of 2,000 rpm when the engine dwell time is longer.

Monitoring the quality of diesel exhaust gases: a significant decrease in the number of pollutants emitted into the environment was observed, and a considerable reduction percentage can be seen in the emission of carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, and PM2.5 particles. The decrease is obtained throughout all the working areas of the engine, and a significant reduction is obtained in idle mode (IDLE).

CO – percent change measured 15% to 52%

CO2 – 2% to 48%

NO2 – 40%

PM 2.5 – 29% to 54%

The test found that no engine performance decrease was observed during the trial.

The company is working with the Ministry of Environmental Protection for the catalytic component to be recognized as an approved means of reducing emissions from heavy vehicles to assist vehicle fleets in meeting the emission reduction target set for operators of heavy vehicle fleets according to the Clean Air Law, 2008.

Interpretation of Test Results

A large percentage reduction in the emission of carbon monoxide, PM2.5 particles and nitrogen dioxide can be seen in the monitoring carried out when the engine is running with the use of the catalyst, compared to the monitorings carried out without the use of the catalyst.

How does it work?

When fuel passes through the Trucknet smart Fuel Catalyst’s patented combination of metallic and rare earth combination of metallic and rare earth elements, a reaction occurs just before combustion that separates the clustered molecules so more of them exposed to oxygen. As the combustion process completes, far fewer fuel molecules are wasted and spewed from the engine as exhaust. In addition, the other most crucial reaction is the change in the proportion of saturated straight-chain aliphatic paraffin to unsaturated ring compound aromatics, which leads to dehydrogenation of the saturated hydrocarbon chain resulting in the release of a small quantity of hydrogen gas.

In addition to reducing fuel costs, the fuel Catalyst can also reduce wear and tear on the engines and boilers to which it is attached. The energy that does not burn off builds up inside an engine as soot or carbon buildup. Trapped in the crankcase, it can contaminate the oil and eventually lead to breakdowns. Oil analysis tests have proved that fuel soot levels are reduced substantially by using the fuel Catalyst.

As part of the collaboration, the catalytic component will combine with the competencies of the Trucknet system for measuring and reporting the reduction of polluting emissions with the Trucknet online emissions calculation tool. The integrated product will marketed exclusively by the Company to clients with commercial trucks and buses under “Trucknet Smart Catalyst.”

Before Catalyst

Diesel fuel molecules have a natural tendency to cluster. Clustered molecules do not burn completely

After Catalyst

Causing the fuel molecules to  temporarily repel each other creates more surface area which allows oxygen and hydrogen to surround the dispersed molecules facilitating a more complete fuel born.

Changing the ratio of single bonded unsaturated straight-chain aliphatic to double bonded non-saturated ting-compound aromatics releases a small quantity of hydrogen gas.
